Boot

nounShop talkWaterproofing

A preformed or field-built collar that seals a pipe, rod or conduit where it passes through a membrane.

Penetrations are the most common leak points in any membrane. A boot is a molded rubber or membrane sleeve, or a stack of detail plies, that wraps the pipe and laps onto the field membrane, finished with a clamp or sealant at the top. Grouped pipes too close together for individual boots are a classic problem detail.
