Sheet metal workers and waterproofers fold an end dam or outside corner so the excess material tucks into a triangle that lies against the dam, rather than cutting and sealing it. The fold keeps the corner continuous with no seam to leak. Membrane installers also call the folded tab of material at an inside or outside corner a dog ear before it is patched over.
Don't snip the corners, fold a dog ear on each end dam, a cut corner always leaks.
