hectobecquerel

unitStandard termUnits

A metric unit of radioactivity equal to one hundred becquerels.

A metric unit of radioactive decay equal to 100 becquerels, meaning 100 nuclear disintegrations per second. The symbol is hBq. Because the base becquerel is an extremely small amount of activity, the hectobecquerel is almost never used in health physics or dosimetry, where megabecquerels or gigabecquerels are the standard working scales.

Heard on the job

The surface contamination was measured at a few hectobecquerels per square centimetre.
