This technique involves running a straight stitch on the right side of the fabric, usually parallel to a seam or edge. It anchors facings, pockets, and seam allowances flat against the garment body. Topstitching provides both a crisp, finished edge and significant mechanical strength, making it heavily used in denim and tailored outerwear.
Press that collar completely flat before you topstitch it at a quarter inch.
Use a longer stitch length and heavy-duty thread for topstitching to make it pop visually and prevent the fabric from puckering.
