Perch

nounStandard termTextiles

A vertical frame equipped with rollers and lights used to inspect fabric rolls.

The perch is an inspection machine consisting of an upright frame over which woven or knitted fabric is drawn. It typically features strong backlighting and overhead lighting to expose weaving flaws, dye inconsistencies, and structural defects. As the cloth passes over the rollers at a controlled speed, inspectors can easily spot and mark imperfections before the material moves to final finishing or cutting.
