Blanket stitch

nounStandard termTextiles

A decorative and functional hand stitch used to finish unhemmed edges.

A hand-sewing technique used to finish the edges of thick fabrics, preventing fraying while adding a decorative border. The thread is passed through the fabric and looped over the working thread, creating a continuous line of thread along the very edge with perpendicular legs anchoring it.
