Trainagraph

nounStandard termRailroad

An instrument that records air pressure variations in a train braking system over time.

A diagnostic recording device connected to the brake pipe to monitor and chart air pressure fluctuations. It creates a continuous graph showing how the brakes apply, hold, and release during operation. Mechanics and air brake instructors use it to troubleshoot sticky valves, verify brake pipe integrity, and evaluate a locomotive engineer's train handling skills.

Hook the trainagraph up to the rear end and let's see if that pressure drop is real or just a bad gauge.
