A finishing process that uses a heated die to press metallic foil into a surface.

A traditional finishing technique where a heated metal die presses a thin layer of gold or metallic foil onto a book cover, spine, or heavy stock. The combination of heat and pressure activates the foil adhesive and leaves a slightly debossed, permanent metallic impression.
