A posted area where a person could receive more than 1 mSv (100 mrem) in an hour at 30 cm from a source.

A posting level under US rules for areas where dose rates could exceed 100 mrem (1 mSv) in one hour at 30 cm from the source. Entry needs an RWP, a briefing, and an alarming dosimeter or continuous RP coverage. Above that, locked high radiation areas (typically over 1 rem per hour) need locked doors and tighter key control, and very high radiation areas cover fields above 500 rad in an hour at 1 m.
