Finger grip

nounStandard termMining

A specialized fishing tool used to retrieve dropped rods from a borehole.

A specialized recovery tool lowered down a drill hole to catch and extract broken or dropped drill string components. It features internal mechanical fingers or slips that slide over the lost cylindrical object and bite into it when pulled upward, allowing the crew to winch the obstruction to the surface.
