Buzzie

nounShop talkMining

A lightweight, hand-held pneumatic rock drill used for boring blast holes in tight underground spaces.

Powered by compressed air, this portable drill delivers rapid percussive blows to a steel bit to chip away hard rock. Miners use it in narrow veins, stopes, or development headings where large, mechanized drilling jumbos cannot fit. The machine earns its name from the loud, high-frequency vibration and exhaust noise it produces during operation.
