An old unit of measure for a bloom of iron, typically around 100 pounds.

A historic unit of mass or a physical chunk of metal produced by a smelting furnace, usually referring to an iron bloom. It represented a standard size of consolidated iron sponge that a single worker could reasonably handle and transport to the forge for shingling.
