Capable of being shaped by hammering or pressing without breaking.

Describes an alloy or metal state that has enough ductility to be plastically deformed into a new shape under compressive force. A forgeable metal will flow into a die cavity without tearing, provided it is heated to the correct working temperature.

That high-carbon scrap isn't easily forgeable, so don't try to draw it out too thin on the power hammer.
