A removable cylindrical lining inserted into a housing to provide a low-friction bearing surface for a rotating or sliding shaft. Unlike rolling-element bearings, they have no moving parts and rely on material properties like bronze or PTFE to minimize wear. They protect the main structural components by acting as a sacrificial element that can be easily pressed out and replaced when worn.
The linkage has too much slop, so press out the old brass bushing and install a new one.
Always check the clearance after pressing a bushing into a tight bore, as the inner diameter will shrink slightly during installation.
