Time trade

nounStandard termMaritime

An agreement between shippers to swap scheduled cargo shipments.

A logistical arrangement where one shipper exchanges a scheduled cargo slot or batched shipment with another shipper. This swap allows companies to adjust to sudden supply chain disruptions, manufacturing delays, or changes in vessel availability without losing their spot on a departing ship. Both parties must coordinate with the carrier to update the manifests and loading plans.
