Process tomography

nounStandard termProduction

A non-invasive imaging technique used to visualize the internal dynamics of industrial operations.

The use of specialized sensors to generate cross-sectional images of the contents inside pipes, reactors or mixing vessels in real time. This allows engineers to see multiphase flows, detect blockages or monitor chemical reactions without stopping production or opening the equipment. It relies on electrical capacitance, resistance or ultrasonic measurements.

Heard on the job

We set up process tomography on the main feed line to see exactly where the slurry is separating.
