Acquisition-room talk for the state of a survey line. The surveyor calls online when the boat is steady on the planned line and logging starts, and offline at the end, when the file closes and the coxswain turns for the next line. Data recorded in turns is usually discarded or flagged, so crisp online and offline calls keep line files clean.
Online line 34, heading 212. Offline at the end, then swing wide to starboard for 35.
