A blind rivet consists of a tubular body and a central mandrel. An installation tool pulls the mandrel through the body, causing the blind end to expand and clamp the materials together. Once the required clamping force is reached, the mandrel snaps off, leaving a secure, permanent joint without needing access to the back side.
