Blind

adjectiveStandard termFasteners

A condition where a fastener must be installed from only one side of the joint.

A blind joint or fastener requires access to only one side of the assembly. The back side is enclosed, hidden, or unreachable, preventing the use of a standard nut and washer. Installers must use specialized hardware that expands or deforms behind the material to create a secure clamp.
