To separate a single combined data stream back into its original multiple signals.

The process of taking a single input signal that contains multiple interleaved channels and routing it to multiple distinct output lines. This is achieved by using a control signal to rapidly switch the input stream to the correct output destination in sync with the original multiplexing source.
