A ninety is any 90-degree elbow in a conduit run, either a factory elbow or one bent with a hand bender, as in a stub-up. Code allows no more than 360 degrees of total bends between pull points, so electricians count ninetys and offsets as they lay out a run and add a pull box or conduit body when they run out. In larger sizes a factory ninety is often called a factory ell.
