Many US mills grind a single cement that passes both the Type I and Type II requirements of ASTM C150 and ship it as dual-certified Type I/II. Type II caps tricalcium aluminate (C3A) at 8 percent, which slows sulfate attack and trims heat of hydration. Severe sulfate soils call for Type V, capped at 5 percent C3A, and portland-limestone cement sold as Type IL, with up to 15 percent ground limestone, fills the same everyday role in many markets.
Plant's out of Type I/II cement this week, so the submittal gets revised to IL with the same fly ash dose.
