Parging

The process or result of applying a thin coat of mortar to a masonry surface.

Parging is the application of a cementitious mortar coat over concrete block, poured concrete, or brick walls. The resulting layer seals pores, smooths out irregular joints, and provides a continuous substrate for waterproofing layers, particularly on the earth-retaining side of foundation walls.
