A piling rig is a massive piece of heavy construction equipment equipped with a tall mast and drilling or driving attachments. It is used to install deep foundations by either boring deep shafts into the soil to be filled with reinforced concrete, or by driving precast concrete or steel piles directly into the earth.
The site is mostly running sand, so we're bringing in a piling rig to drive steel casings down to bedrock.
Piling rigs require a highly stable, level working platform (a pile mat) to prevent the top-heavy machine from tipping over during operation.
