Kneecap

nounStandard termBuilding

A custom metal cover trim installed over a bent panel rib on a metal roof.

A kneecap is a specialized piece of metal flashing used in standing seam or corrugated metal roofing. When a continuous roof panel is bent to transition from a steep slope to a lower slope, the raised ribs must be cut and folded. The kneecap is installed over this cut joint to seal it against water intrusion and provide a finished appearance.
