Edge venting

nounStandard termBuilding

A ventilation system installed along the perimeter of a roof.

A continuous or regularly spaced series of openings along the eaves or drip edge of a roof. It allows fresh outside air to enter the attic or roof assembly, pushing hot air and moisture out through the ridge vents. This continuous airflow prevents condensation buildup and extends the life of the roofing materials.
