Adjunctive

adjectiveStandard termBrewing

Serving as a supplementary ingredient or additive in a brewing or food production process.

This describes materials, chemicals, or processing aids that are not the primary raw ingredients but are added to modify the final product. In commercial brewing and food processing, adjunctive compounds include clarifiers, stabilizers, yeast nutrients, and colorants. They help achieve consistency and extend shelf life without fundamentally changing the nature of the beverage or food.
