Pusher

nounStandard termAviation

An aircraft configuration where the propeller is mounted behind the engine.

An aircraft design featuring a propeller mounted on the rear of the fuselage or engine nacelle, facing backward. Instead of pulling the aircraft through the air like a standard tractor configuration, the propeller pushes it. This setup leaves the nose clear for sensors, weapons, or better pilot visibility, though it can complicate engine cooling and expose the propeller to debris kicked up by the landing gear.

Heard on the job

The drone uses a pusher configuration so the camera gimbal in the nose has an unobstructed view.
