The equivalent area of an object that reflects radar waves back to the receiver, usually measured in square meters. A high radar cross section means the aircraft appears large and bright on a radar scope. Stealth aircraft are specifically shaped and coated with absorbent materials to reduce this signature to the size of a bird or insect, delaying detection by enemy air defenses.
Heard on the job
