Exhaust velocity

nounStandard termAviation

The speed at which propellant gases exit a rocket nozzle or jet engine.

Exhaust velocity measures how fast combustion products are expelled from an engine's nozzle. It is a primary indicator of engine efficiency, directly dictating the specific impulse and the total thrust generated for a given mass flow rate. Higher speeds mean the vehicle gets more momentum out of every kilogram of fuel burned.

We need to increase the chamber pressure to hit our target exhaust velocity.
