LaSalle

nounStandard termAutomotive

A historic companion marque produced by General Motors to sit just below the Cadillac brand.

Designed by styling legend Harley Earl, these vehicles were built to fill the pricing gap between Buick and Cadillac. They featured elegant, sweeping lines and were among the first production cars to be styled by a dedicated designer rather than an engineer. The brand was eventually discontinued when Cadillac introduced a more affordable entry-level model that cannibalized its sales.

Heard on the job

We pulled a flathead V8 out of a rotting LaSalle and we're going to rebuild it for the hot rod project.

Insider tip

LaSalle is highly regarded in the custom car world because its elegant grilles and trim pieces are frequently transplanted onto early hot rods.
