Enricher

nounStandard termAutomotive

An enricher is a carburetor mechanism that adds extra fuel for cold starting.

An enricher is a fuel circuit built into a carburetor that supplies a rich air-fuel mixture to a cold engine. Rather than choking off the air supply with a butterfly valve, an enricher opens a dedicated fuel passage to introduce more gasoline into the venturi. This prevents the engine from stalling until it reaches operating temperature.
