Enrichener

nounStandard termAutomotive

An enrichener is a carburetor circuit that adds extra fuel for cold starts.

An enrichener is a specific fuel-delivery circuit in a carburetor designed to provide a richer air-fuel mixture when starting a cold engine. Unlike a traditional choke that restricts incoming air to increase the fuel ratio, an enrichener opens a separate passage to dump additional raw fuel directly into the intake tract.

Heard on the job

The bike is hard to start on cold mornings because the enrichener cable is stretched and not opening the plunger fully.
