Clutchless manual transmission

nounStandard termAutomotive

A gearbox that requires manual gear selection but automates the clutch operation.

A semi-automatic drivetrain configuration where the driver selects gears manually using a shifter, but the vehicle uses hydraulic or electric actuators to operate the clutch. This eliminates the physical clutch pedal while retaining the mechanical internals of a traditional manual gearbox.
