CCB

abbreviationStandard termAutomotive

Carbon ceramic brakes, a high-performance braking system using composite rotors.

An advanced braking system that replaces traditional cast-iron rotors with discs made of a carbon-fiber reinforced ceramic material. These rotors offer immense resistance to heat fade under extreme track conditions and significantly reduce unsprung weight at the wheels. They are incredibly expensive to replace and often squeal loudly when cold or used for normal street driving.

Heard on the job

The customer wants to know the replacement cost for the CCB rotors on his track car, so you better sit him down first.

Insider tip

Never use standard wheel cleaners on CCB rotors, as harsh chemicals can degrade the carbon ceramic matrix and ruin a very expensive set of brakes.
