Electronic stability control automatically applies individual brakes to prevent skidding.

Electronic stability control is an active safety system that detects and reduces loss of traction. When the system's sensors detect that the vehicle is not going where the driver is steering, it automatically applies braking force to individual wheels to help steer the vehicle back on its intended path.
