Bedside

nounStandard termAutomotive

The exterior sheet metal panel forming the flank of a pickup truck's cargo box.

A bedside is the outer panel that makes up the left or right side of a pickup truck bed. It is usually a large, single stamped piece of steel or aluminum running from the back of the cab to the tailgate. In collision repair, bedsides are frequently replaced entirely rather than hammered out due to their massive size and structural role in the box assembly.

We need to drill out all the factory spot welds to hang a new bedside on that F-150.

Insider tip

When quoting a bedside replacement, always factor in the labor time to remove and reinstall the taillights, bumper, and bed liner.
