Rosehead

nounStandard termWoodworking

A conical drill bit or countersink with multiple radiating cutting flutes.

A rosehead is a type of countersink bit featuring a conical tip with multiple cutting edges radiating from the center, resembling the petals of a rose. Woodworkers use it to create a clean, chamfered recess for flathead screws or nails so they sit flush with or below the wood surface. The multiple flutes help reduce chatter and leave a smooth finish in both hard and soft woods.
