Sealants touch setting blocks, spacers, gaskets, glazing tapes, IGU edge seals and coatings, and some combinations soften, stain or debond each other. Compatibility testing, often under ASTM C1087, exposes samples to heat and UV and checks for discoloration and adhesion loss. Manufacturers issue job-specific reports, and structural glazing requires them.
Send samples of the gaskets and the spacer to the silicone supplier, no SSG without a compatibility test report.
