Mediumweight

adjectiveStandard termTextiles

A fabric thickness that strikes a balance between light draping materials and heavy upholstery.

This classification covers fabrics weighing roughly 5 to 7 ounces per square yard (170 to 240 gsm). Materials in this category, such as broadcloth, flannel, and standard linen, offer enough structure to hold a shape while remaining comfortable for year-round apparel. They are thick enough to obscure undergarments but thin enough to sew easily on domestic machines.
