Power sum near-end crosstalk (PSNEXT) measures the cumulative signal interference that a single twisted pair receives from all adjacent pairs at the near end of a cable. Network technicians test this value to ensure a cable can support high-speed data transmission like Gigabit Ethernet. High PSNEXT values indicate strong isolation, while low values mean the cable will likely drop packets under heavy load.
The certifier failed the drop to the conference room because PSNEXT dipped below the limit at 250 megahertz.
