abbreviationStandard termTelecom & IT

An international private line is a dedicated, point-to-point data circuit connecting locations in different countries.

An international private line (IPL) provides a secure, unshared physical or virtual circuit between two global offices. Enterprises lease these circuits from telecommunications carriers to guarantee bandwidth and avoid the latency and security risks of routing traffic over the public internet. They are typically provisioned over undersea fiber optic cables using synchronous transport protocols.
