Fuzzy controller

nounStandard termRobotics

A control system that uses fuzzy logic to process inputs in degrees of truth rather than strict binary values.

A type of control system built on fuzzy logic, which evaluates sensor data as continuous variables instead of rigid true or false states. The controller applies a set of IF-THEN rules to these overlapping input sets to calculate a smooth, proportional output. This approach is highly effective for managing complex, non-linear mechanical systems where precise mathematical modeling is difficult.

Heard on the job

The fuzzy controller handles the temperature fluctuations much better than the old PID loop did.
