Two kiln meanings. A ring is a band of material that sticks around the whole circumference of a rotary kiln, such as a clinker, sulfur or mid-kiln ring, choking gas and material flow and sometimes breaking off in dangerous slabs. It is also one complete circle of lining brick, laid and keyed as a unit, so crews talk about how many rings were installed per shift.
Mid-kiln ring is closing up the diameter, we'll have to shoot it or stop and cut it out.
