The job of tearing out a worn lining and installing a new one. A full reline replaces everything down to the safety lining or shell, while a partial or zone reline replaces only the fastest-wearing areas such as a ladle slag line or a kiln burning zone. Big relines, such as a blast furnace or a glass furnace rebuild, are planned years ahead and run around the clock.
Kiln reline is 45 metres of the burning zone, ten days down, crews on twelve-hour shifts.
Plan a reline backwards from the dry-out. Curing and heat-up often take longer than the bricklaying.
