A specialized maintenance vehicle built on a standard rubber-tired chassis but fitted with hydraulically lowered steel flanged wheels. This allows the vehicle to drive on standard highways to a crossing, deploy its rail wheels, and travel down the track to work sites. They are heavily used by track inspectors and maintenance-of-way crews.
