Throwout

nounStandard termPrinting

An oversized folded page bound into a book that extends beyond the regular page edge when opened.

A folded sheet bound into a book or magazine that opens out to one side, functioning as half of a gatefold. It is used to display wide illustrations, maps, or large technical diagrams that require more horizontal space than a standard two-page spread allows. The sheet is trimmed slightly smaller than the text block so it folds flat without catching the edge.
