Latin

nounShop talkPrinting

Dummy text used to fill layout spaces before the final copy is ready.

Placeholder text inserted into a design to demonstrate the visual appearance of fonts and layout without distracting the viewer with readable content. It is almost always a scrambled variant of Cicero's writings, famously starting with lorem ipsum. Designers use it to evaluate typographic color, column widths, and line spacing early in the production process.
