Line art

nounStandard termPrinting

Artwork consisting entirely of solid lines or shapes with no continuous tones or shading.

Any image or graphic that consists only of solid, single-color areas, typically black and white, without any gradients or continuous tones. Because it lacks shading, line art can be printed directly without needing to be broken down into a halftone screen.

Make sure the logo is saved as vector line art so we get crisp edges on the plate.

Do not mix it up with

  • Halftone: Line art uses only solid ink and paper color, while a halftone uses a grid of dots to simulate continuous shading.
