Flexible printed circuit refers to a board built on a bendable polymer substrate, typically polyimide, rather than rigid fiberglass. These circuits can fold, twist, and conform to tight spaces inside compact devices like smartphones or cameras. They are often used to bridge gaps between moving parts or to replace bulky wiring harnesses.
The display connects to the mainboard via a fragile FPC that tears easily if you pull it at an angle.
FPCs require special stiffeners glued to the ends if they need to be inserted into standard ZIF connectors.
